Sports reports from teams in Michigan

February 8, 2010 - 05:26 a.m. EST

Former Michigan Wolverine and current New Orleans center Jonathan Goodwin can add a Super Bowl victory to his resume. The Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 to earn the big win in Miami last night. MVP Drew Brees went 32 for 39 for 288 yards for the Saints.

The Detroit Red Wings are idle today as they continue a five-game road trip. It wraps up tomorrow against the St. Louis Blues, who lost to Chicago on Saturday and face Colorado today. The Red Wings will be trying to avoid a third straight loss.

The Detroit Pistons will look to win for just the third time in nine games when they visit Milwaukee tomorrow night. The Pistons beat the miserable New Jersey Nets 99-92 this weekend. The Bucks are coming off a 93-81 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Government records show the FBI investigated threatening letters sent to Detroit Pistons coach Chuck Daly at the height of his team's success during the 1989 and 1990 "Bad Boys" championship era. The letters show his teams' in-your-face defense angered not only opponents but fans, too.
